I can’t express my gratitude enough for what my nephew James and the team at Solid Base achieved with my home. After two different engineers told me that making the property flood-proof was impossible—given that I’m at the foot of a hill—I felt completely defeated. Both insisted on using pumps that weren’t reliable long-term. But James refused to accept that. He pored over their reports, brought in a surveyor, engaged his own engineer, and designed a gravity-based solution that everyone else said couldn’t be done. He assured me from the start that he could make my home flood-proof, even when no one else had the answer.
On top of that, the insurance company required the solution to meet updated compliance standards, leaving James with almost no margin for error. He explained that, across the entire property, we were working with mere millimetres of tolerance. Yet somehow, he found a way. He created a finely tuned system that not only protected my house from flooding—it allowed me to maintain my insurance coverage and reclaim my home.
I’d been out of my property for over a year, worried I might have to sell at a huge loss. The stress was immense, but James’s expertise, mathematical precision, understanding of compliance, and determination saved me from that nightmare. Now, the house has passed multiple heavy rains without a single drop of water getting in.
